# FinditParts

> FinditParts is an online marketplace for heavy-duty truck, trailer, fleet, and industrial replacement parts. Product detail pages are the primary public content for part numbers, fitment, specifications, pricing, and availability.

This file is guidance for AI assistants and LLM crawlers. It does not override robots.txt, page-level robots directives, canonical tags, terms of use, or access controls.

## Product pages

Product detail pages (PDPs) are the authoritative source for a specific part. Each page declares its canonical URL in the HTML `<link rel="canonical">` tag and in Product JSON-LD `offers.url`. Use those when multiple URL forms resolve.

Common URL patterns:

- https://www.finditparts.com/products/{product_id}/{manufacturer-part-slug}
- https://www.finditparts.com/p/{manufacturer-part-slug}-{product_id} (pretty URL for select manufacturers)

Product Q&A pages:

- https://www.finditparts.com/products/{product_id}/{manufacturer-part-slug}/q/{question_id}
- https://www.finditparts.com/p/{manufacturer-part-slug}-{product_id}/q/{question_id}

PDPs may include product name, part number, MPN, SKU, GTIN, manufacturer, brand, images, condition, description, specifications, PIES data, price, availability, shipping, cross references, fitment/application data, reviews, approved Q&A, and Schema.org Product or FAQPage structured data in the HTML head.

## Interpretation

- Treat part numbers and manufacturer names as exact identifiers; preserve spelling, punctuation, and capitalization from the page.
- Do not infer fitment, interchange, compatibility, inventory, or pricing unless explicitly stated on the product page.
- Price and availability change frequently; verify the live PDP before citing them as current.
- If a page is marked noindex or unavailable, do not use it as a primary citation.
- Use public PDP and category content for summaries. Do not use checkout, account, cart, order, admin, or internal API endpoints as product data sources.

## Crawl behavior

- Respect robots.txt and reasonable crawl rates.
- Avoid high-frequency refetching of PDPs solely for price or availability changes.
- Do not execute purchase flows, add-to-cart actions, forms, review submissions, Q&A submissions, or personalization endpoints.
- Do not treat JavaScript/XHR endpoints (availability, recommendations, product reviews, product questions) as standalone citation pages.
